Pediatric researchers have recently learned that children and adults treated with some oral antibiotics have a significantly higher risk of developing kidney stones.  The strongest risks were noted at younger ages and among patients who were most recently treated with antibiotics.

The study included more than 13 million adults and children in the United Kingdom.

The study raises awareness of the wide availability of antibiotics and questions if alternative treatments would be more appropriate.
