Superstar comedian Kevin Hart is putting his money where his funny mouth is. On Monday, he surprised a 18 promising college students with a total of  $600,000 in scholarship money in partnership with the United Negro College Fund and Kipp Charter Schools.

The recipients of his Hart Charity Scholarship attend eleven different HBCUs across the country such as Xavier University, Tuskegee University, Spelman College, and Morehouse College.

Hart, who met with the winners at a reception in Los Angeles, explained that “I just wanted to do my part in providing opportunities for our future leaders, especially from my Philly hometown, and show support from HBCUs.” A total of eight students from Philadelphia received the award.

This is not the first time Kevin Hart donated money to HBCUs. In 2015, he gave $100,000 to UNCF in support of four students.

Most importantly, there are no signs that he will end his educational philanthropy. His Instagram announcement of the grant declared “this is just the beginning my people!!!!”
