President Donald Trump hurled insults at Don Lemon as well as LeBron James via Twitter Friday then cast a vote in the ongoing LeBron James-Michael Jordan G.O.A.T. debate.

He tweeted, “LeBron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made LeBron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!”

The insults were clearly in response to an interview that Mr. Lemon conducted with LeBron James where he accused President Trump of using sports as a tool to divide the country even further apart. Before the interview ended, Mr. James stated that he “wouldn’t sit across” from Trump but would be willing to “sit across from Barack [Obama].”

NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan came to Lebron James’ defense on Saturday, saying through a spokesperson, “I support LJ. He’s doing an amazing job for his community.”

NBA hall of famer Bill Russell also addressed President Trump’s comments in a Tweet that addressed previous outbursts of his that were directed towards Maxine Waters, John Lewis, and the NFL. He framed the incident as a tremendous compliment.

“At this time & place for any African American, @KingJames @donlemon @RepMaxineWaters @repjohnlewis & #NFL plyrs to be criticised by @realdonaldtrump means you must be doing something right! As I have said before- Its the biggest compliment you can get.”

Trump posted the tweet just days after the LeBron James Family Foundation opened the
“I Promise School” in Akron, Ohio and welcomed 240 at-risk students. Each student in the program who graduates is guaranteed a four-year college scholarship to the University of Akron.
