Thousands of demonstrators marched across New York’s Brooklyn Bridge in a protest against gun violence this past Saturday.

The protest was led by a student-led group called Youth Over Guns, that was formed after the deadly mass shooting in Parkland, Florida this past February.

The protesters marched across the bridge then held a rally in the lower Manhattan area. Many of the demonstrators wore orange in order to show support for gun violence awareness.

Aalayah Eastmond, a Black survivor of the shooting at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, spoke to participants at the march. Additionally, actresses Julianne Moore and Susan Sarandon were in attendance.

The goal of this march and similar other demonstrations across the country have attempted to prod lawmakers to pass gun reform legislation.
